The Vow: Movie Review By Da Vinci

So, I would be lying if I said that Channing Tatum wasn’t 1 reason I wanted to see this flick (he’s sooo yummy) but I can definitely say he wasn’t the only reason. The Vow is a love story based on the true events and life of a couple so I was even more compelled to see it with that knowledge. When you watch the trailer, you’re thinking another sappy “chick-flick” but The Vow is so much more than that. The Vow is about a newlywed couple recovering from a car accident that puts the wife in a coma. She wakes up with severe memory loss, and we get to watch the emotional, mental and physical struggle and her husband’s endeavors to win her heart again.

His Vows: I vow to fiercely love you and all your forms now and forever. I promise never to forget this is a once in a lifetime love … and no matter what challenges carry us apart we’ll always find a way back to each other.

Upon watching the movie I found myself in tears at many moments because so many people go into marriage thinking about all the wonderful things it entails and many rarely take into consideration the “For Worse” part of the vows. This was an example of true love conquering all and those marital vows meaning so much more than words on paper. Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams do an excellent job of making this story feel real and true to life. I felt the thrill of going on the roller coaster of love with them and it definitely wasn’t a predictable story line. I recommend The Vow for a couples night, whether you’ve been in a relationship 1 year or you’ve been married 10+ years The Vow is sure to make you self reflect and cherish your partner in a new way.
