So, I must admit that I was somewhat iffy about whether Hasbro’s classic game could make it to the big screen in a successful fashion but they SURE proved me wrong! After watching it I looked forward to writing this review. With a star studded cast like Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård, Brooklyn Decker, Gregory D. Gadson a real life Army veteran who is also a double amputee and singer/breakout actress Rihanna It’s easy to wonder if things will come together. Battleship had a well written plot that included tons of action, drama and just enough romance/eye candy to keep you interested.
Without saying too much… the plot is built around, Alex who is a lieutenant and the Tactical Action Officer aboard the Arleigh Burke class flight I destroyer USS John Paul Jones. Alex is also in a committed relationship with Samantha and wants to marry her, but is afraid to ask her father for permission. With all that normalcy going on, five alien ships arrive in response to the NASA signal and then we get to see how the United States Navy & Japanese Navy fight this battle together in the form and fashion of the game.
Battleship will definitely make for a great date night, movie night with the friends or even movie for family to watch, as long as the children are of age.
