How to Remodel and Redecorate on a Budget

Remodeling doesn’t have to as pricey as it seems. Remodeling on a budget is easy if you know what to look for. First, you have to know what you are looking for. Meaning have an idea of how you want your room or house to look before you start shopping around. Knowing exactly which services you are looking for and what type of furniture, the number of lamps, the size of chandelier, how much counter space, and exactly how many vases you want around the room will you keep you from over spending.

Many people try to dive into remodeling by doing a little bit at a time, and purchasing items here and there, but you are actually apt to spend more money this way. If you make a list and stick directly to what is on your list, it will keep you from venturing out and picking up random knick knacks that are simply wasting your money and taking up space, that you don’t need them to take up.

It is also very important to shop around for residential painters, carpenters, plumbers, and the other technicians you will need. Keep in mind that you are not only shopping around for the best price, but also the best reviews. Although one service company may quote you at a far lower price, if the work is not quality, it probably isn’t worth saving the little bit of extra money if you may have to put that money back into later anyways.

Before going into more pricy stores, make sure you are browsing online. Stores like and have many of the products you are looking for at a fraction of the cost. If you can buy in bulk you will also save. Need 4 or 5 of the same item? Find them at a store and request a discount for buying more than 1 or 2. Some places will give you discounts you didn’t even know were available until you asked. Also keep in mind places that vow to “match prices”, they sure aren’t going to bring it up, but you can!

These are just a few tips on how to remodel and redecorate on a budget. To sum it up, the important steps are making a list, comparison shopping, and asking and reaching out for deals and discounts. Be smart about your remodels and redecorating and you could save yourself a lot of money.
