4 Reasons To Encourage Your Kids To Take Up After School Activities

It’s that time of year again where the children are heading back to school and for the first time in nearly two months the house seems peaceful. Back to school time is the perfect opportunity to encourage your child to take up some extra-curricular activities that are often held after the end of the school day. Depending on the school there are a whole host of activities for your little ones to get involved in and this can only be a good thing in their progressive development.

As parents it’s understandable that you may be a bit wary about you child partaking in these classes or worried that you are pushing them too hard, but there are so many reasons why it’s a great idea.

The Perfect Environment –

School provides the perfect environment for your children to engage themselves in activities that might otherwise be daunting for them. Not only is it a place that you will know well, and therefore you can trust that they are in safe hands, it’s also somewhere that they will be very familiar with too. This means that they won’t be taken out of their comfort zone and will be more confident in taking part.

It will also help that they will know the person running the class and most of the other children that will be there too. This all means they can feel comfortable and will give them the best possible platform in order to have fun and learn.

Added Activity –

Children love to be active and after school classes are a great way to extended this outside of the confines of the regular school day. Physical education can be limited on the school curriculum and so these additional classes will give them more time to partake in sporting activity.

There is no substitute for a healthy and active life, and so the more chance your children get to indulge in these classes; the more they will understand their importance. It’s great that this can all be conducted in a supervised environment too.

The Chance For One To One Teaching –

During lessons there are often a large number of children for the teacher to look after and they are also restricted by the length of the teaching period. However, during after school classes there will be more time to focus on individual needs and therefore a better quality of learning will be received.

Whoever is taking the session may even be able to offer one to one coaching which is always great for the development of youngsters. The fact that there will be less children taking part in the class will also mean that sessions can be tailored towards certain individual’s weaknesses and therefore no one will be left behind.

It Doesn’t Feel Like Learning –

The best thing about extracurricular activities is that because the classes are held outside of school times the children often don’t realise they are learning. In this environment there can be a bigger focus on fun which often leads to a higher standard of learning. These extended activities can have the effect of releasing the children from the restrictions that school puts on them; leading to them coming out of their shells a bit more and ultimately getting a lot more from the experience.

Children’s football classes are a great example of an after school activity that kids of all ages can get involved in. They will be so busy enjoying themselves that they won’t even realise they’re picking up valuable life skills and engaging in a happy, healthy and active start to their life.

Chris Mayhew took part in many extracurricular activities when he was at school and they gave him a great outlet for his energy whilst providing the perfect learning platform. He would advise that anyone looking for a club that their child can join looks at the schools that Sport4kids visit.
