The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is the 2nd installment of The Hunger Games series. After watching the first movie I was completely stoked about watching this next one. It’s not the type of series that I would recommend skipping the first movie at all, you need to watch that to truly understand the plight of the main character’s Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark.

The Hunger Games are not for the light of heart, the story depicts a class based society that is divided into districts and controlled by the elite. In an effort to maintain control over the masses they ceremoniously do a drawing of 2 tributes, which should be called sacrifices, from each district to battle it out till the end… however, there can only be one winner. If you saw the first movie you would know that Katniss and Peeta, defied that rule and now they have to face the consequences of their actions in Catching Fire. In this movie, time has passed so we get to see how they’re handling their success and it’s time for new Hunger Games.

Although I haven’t read the books, I’ve heard that the movie is very closely related to the book series in accuracy… however, just watching the movies has made me want to read the books so, that will tell you how much I have enjoyed it.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, makes for a great date night movie or something to see with some friends… I think the movie is great for sparking in depth conversation. I’m really looking forward to the next release!
