Plastic Surgery is only for Women

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, women inquire about and receive plastic surgery much more often than men. However, the number of men who want cosmetic surgery is increasing. Some men prefer to undergo procedures that will enhance their appearance, such as Botox and dermal fillers. These cosmetic choices provide a youthful appearance and there is minimal downtime. The American Society of Plastic Surgery also asserts that more men are electing to have liposuction, and cite being competitive in the workforce as the reason for undergoing cosmetic procedures.

Plastic Surgery is only for the Vain

With the advent of selfies and social media, it means Even though surgeries like breast augmentations and cosmetic procedures like facelifts and Botox are often what come to mind when people think of plastic surgery, these beauty treatments are not just for the sake of vanity. Some people decide to undergo these operations to correct birth defects. A number of women also elect to have breast augmentation after breast cancer treatments.

Plastic Surgery looks Fake

If done right, by a board certified plastic surgeon, plastic surgery looks very natural. It all depends on the type of surgery someone wants to get as well. If someone wants major work done, the change will be obvious. If the changes are more subtle, or are fixing a medical problem, they will look and feel much more natural.

Breast Augmentation Is a One-Time Surgery

Breast augmentations are one of the most common plastic surgery procedures and one of the three standard cosmetic operations that are performed on the breasts. However, breast augmentation is not permanent. In order to keep the breasts looking their best, additional surgeries are required. These operations are well spaced out and only need to occur every couple of years as age and genetics start to affect the breasts.

Sun Exposure Is Not Allowed After Plastic Surgery

It’s best to talk to your doctor about the specific ways you should care for your body after plastic surgery. Usually, it’s not necessary for you to avoid sun exposure. However, you should limit your time outside to reduce the risk of skin reddening. Apply sunscreen to your skin any time you’ll be outdoors. This is a habit you should practice daily, whether you’ve just had plastic surgery or not.

Before you commit to plastic surgery, you should do plenty of research. The information in the media is not typical of real lives of plastic surgery patience. After arming yourself with information, you can decide whether plastic surgery is right for you.
