Famous Pads: Most Daring Home Designs of 2015

In 2015, there were several celebrity home designs that shocked, delighted, and amazed us. Whether it was Kylie Jenner’s 4,000 square foot starter home in Calabasas, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s $45 million mega-mansion in Los Angeles, or the chic Manhattan townhouse recently purchased by Neil Patrick Harris, there were a number of unique home stories that graced the news during 2015. The following list discusses just a few of the most daring celebrity home designs of the past 12 months.

Kylie Jenner’s Insane Calabasas Crib
Despite only being 17 years old, Kim Kardashian’s younger sister, Kylie Jenner, purchased a $2.7 million mansion in Calabasas, California this year. Shortly after purchasing the 4,000 square foot home, Jenner began renovating the property to reflect her elegant tastes.
Some of the most unique elements found in Kylie’s home include the walk-in shoe closet, the futuristic steel fireplace, and a variety of ostentatious lighting fixtures. Kylie’s house, which is located in The Oaks neighborhood in Calabasas, also has a movie theater and outdoor pool.

Beyonce and Jay-Z’s new $45 Million Abode
Jay-Z and Beyonce recently started renting a $45 million mansion in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles. The mansion, which was once owned by former Los Angeles Dodgers owner, Frank McCourt, has over 20,500 square feet of amazing amenities, stunning architecture, and top-of-the-line appliances.
One of the most amazing rooms in this California mansion is the indoor Olympic-style swimming pool. Naturally, there is also an outdoor pool and hot tub, too, giving the world-famous couple the opportunity to swim, tan, or relax at their leisure.

Neil Patrick Harris Gives In-Depth Glimpse at New NYC Townhouse
David Burtka and Neil Patrick Harris recently gave us a look at their brand new Manhattan townhouse. After the completion of both of their hit television shows, the couple decided to leave Los Angeles and move to New York to raise their family.
This Manhattan-based townhouse is part of a 19th century building. Harris and Burkta loved the classic architecture, but decided to hire interior designer, Trace Lehnhoff to give their new home a more modern feel.
Lehnhoff refurbished the townhouse’s parlor by polishing the antiquated wooden floors and also added a variety of sculptures and paintings to the home. And, as far as the other rooms go, Neil Patrick Harris decided to install stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, giving the townhouse an ecologically-friendly edge.

Whether you are remodeling the kitchen or going all out with a new deck, looking for inspiration from these extravagant celebrity homes offers a glimpse into the exotic and entertaining. Luckily, you don’t have to spend quite as much to get the same effect. Companies like the Stair Case and Railing Store even provide pre-made building kits, so your home can achieve the same level of elegance without all the crazy costs!
