You can’t always leave your allergy to heal naturally as the summer season passes away. Relieve your symptoms using natural remedies or taking OTC drugs, but you’ve got to do something at least to help you enjoy the summer season.

Clean it away!

The most common symptom and cause of allergies is dust. Dust particles fall in the category of irritants that can trigger many other allergic reactions that can leave you sneezing like crazy. If corners of your house have piles of books, newspapers or cardboard boxes piling up it is time to clear them out and throw away the unnecessary stuff that is only being a source of dust, dirt and filth. Surroundings which are cluttered with items not in use only make your allergy symptoms worse. Also cover your mouth and nose as you set out on a cleaning spree! You don’t want to cough away as you clean.

However, keep in mind that you do not need to have an obsessive compulsive disorder ( OCD) about cleanliness that you are always on a house cleaning spree and end up sneezing and coughing all the time. Some tiny amounts of dirt is always good as it helps the immune system to gather some strength to face potential infections because sometimes excessive cleaning can aggravate allergy issues.

Re-schedule your exercise regime

Summer is an ideal time to shed off those extra pounds as you speed up the natural sweating process and build up your stamina to establish a consistent exercise routine. Obviously vigorous physical exercise calls for heavy breathing and excessive inhaling and exhaling that worsens your state of summer allergies. However, obviously you wouldn’t want to give up your weight loss goals just because you are plagued with an allergy that has become a nuisance.

Your increased rate of inhaling cause airborne particles and pollen grains to enter your air and nasal passages and aggravate the already existing irritating condition. Working out indoors while your allergies seem to take a toll on you can be an appropriate measure to avoid further deterioration of the situation.

If you happen to be a nature lover and derive motivation from outdoor settings to exercise, you can opt for antihistamine syrups with anti-sedative properties before planning to spend your day outdoors. You can also use some common sense and opt for the path which is free of dust and leaves so that you are out of reach from any substance that may trigger an allergic reaction. After all, prevention is better than cure.

Fruit is good for health but not when you’re on an allergy

You need to be aware of your condition and act accordingly so that you do not harm your health with your own hands. People may not realize but having certain typical summertime fruits while you are attacked by a summer allergy will not prove to give you the health benefits that they are believed to contain instead they will only be a source of added headache.

Fruits with peels have the same triggering effect as of pollen and are strictly not recommended during a summer allergy. Some other fruits that may have the same effect as pollen include cherries, carrots, plums, peaches and almonds.

One way you could tone down the allergic effects if these fruits is by microwaving them for 10 seconds before consuming them.

Consult your doctor if natural remedies fail

Living in an era where healthcare has seen great advances it is advisable to consult your physician when natural remedies fail you. Not everybody can respond favorably to natural precautions and ways of prevention and hence they need to switch over to OTC meds like decongestants and antihistamines. Sometimes your runny nose doesn’t seem to rest in peace which is when it is time to take serious action. Steroid nasal sprays are available to help relieve allergic symptoms which you can use on a regular basis or occasionally depending on the intensity of the allergic condition.

However, if you are allergic to dust mites, pollen or ragweed you can opt for immunotherapy as it is proven to be very effective against these allergies. They operate on the basic principle of inducing minute amounts of chemical into your body so that your body is already prepared for it as it has encountered it before and boosts your immune system.
