How to Gain Confidence When You’re a Woman with Self-Esteem Issues

  • Save

Good self-esteem is something many women seem to struggle with today. This can change with a little effort, self-awareness, and kindness toward yourself and other women like you. Women can benefit from feeling a bit more empowered. Here are a few tips to gaining empowerment and improving your self-esteem.

Have Dates with Like-Minded People

Having low self-esteem can put you in a lonely place. It is possible that you might actually be avoiding social situations because you are feeling inadequate or just a little lost in your current environment. The best way to remedy this is to place yourself in situations where you are vulnerable and actionable.

A great place to start is by joining a community, such as a fitness center class, a book club, or maybe making plans with girlfriends for lunch a couple of times a month. Commit to this and remain accountable to show up. This will give you a chance to engage in conversation and have your voice heard.

Exercise

There is a saying that healing occurs in the presence of movement. Your self-esteem may need some healing or a tune up that can benefit from exercising more. When you work out you naturally produce endorphins. These are your feel good hormones, such as adrenaline.

Boosting your hormones and heart rate will give you a temporary high. When you feel good, even for a few moments, you get a glimpse of great self-esteem. Keep it up and the good feelings are likely to become your new normal. A bonus is that your skin will glow and your body will be stronger.

A Great Smile

Taking care of your oral health is an asset to feeling good about yourself and your appearance. In addition to brushing and flossing daily, make sure to visit your dentist at least once a year to get an exam and have your teeth cleaned. Some medical colleges will offer this service as part of their teaching programs, if money is tight.

Take care of gum disease, cavities, and missing teeth. You may find that you need a dental implant to replace a missing tooth. This may be keeping you from smiling brightly. Speak with your dentist about the options for replacing missing teeth to give you more confidence.

Practice Gratitude

There is much to be said for the power of positive thinking. Many successful and influential women advise other women to take a few moments every single day to write down 3 things that they are grateful or thankful for. This simple practice reminds you that you are surrounded by good things and acts of kindness, no matter how small they may seem.

It doesn’t matter if you are the CEO of a company or a stay at home mom. You can have good self-esteem if you put a little bit of effort into taking care of yourself every day. There is nothing selfish about this. You are entitled to feel good about yourself!
