Clove helps cure tooth decay, soothe gum pain while new teeth are growing, fight cavities, treat mouth ulcers, soothe tooth aches and act as a mouth freshener. Clove oil has natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and analgesic properties which promote better oral health and help reduce tooth pain. You can use a cotton ball to apply clove oil to the affected area in mouth or teeth.

2. Indian Lilac 

This is nature’s one of most potent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial remedy for curing cavities. It prevents the growth of cavity causing bacteria and helps reduce the resulting inflammation and pain. In most parts of India, especially rural areas, the stem of Lilac or neem is still used as an effective cleanser to keep teeth and gums healthy.  An easy way to use this natural remedy is to crush the lilac or neem leaves with the help of a mortar and pestle until a smooth juicy paste is formed. Apply this paste on the affected area and let it rest there for few minutes and wash it off.

3. Turmeric

It is known to reduce inflammation, pain and decrease bacterial growth. To use this remedy effectively, take a small quantity of turmeric powder. Add a bit of salt and few drops of sesame oil to make a paste an apply on the affected teeth. Let it sit for 30 minutes and swish with lukewarm water. Repeat this process for a few days to treat or make it a part of your oral care routine to prevent painful cavities.

4. Garlic 

This is among the lesser known nature’s gift to us when it comes to natural remedies for cavities. Garlic is not only packed with anti-infection properties which are beneficial for your immune system, but it is also has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which help treat cavities naturally and prevent tooth decay. To use garlic as a natural remedy to treat and prevent tooth decay, make a paste of garlic cloves and add 1 teaspoon of common salt to it. Apply this paste on the area with tooth decay, spit it out and swish around with lukewarm water.

5. Salt Water 

It is one of the simplest preservative used widely across the world. The reason is that it helps prevent bacterial growth effectively. To treat or prevent tooth decay, add a small pinch of salt in a spoonful of warm water. Doing this frequently will help reduce bacterial growth and in turn reduce your risk of cavity formation.

6. Cod liver Oil 

Cod liver oil has high content of vitamin A and it consists of vitamin D as well. These nutrients promote remineralization of teeth. The oil also alters saliva production which further aids in preventing bacterial growth. Take a capsule of cod liver oil and burst it using a clean knife. Use a clean finger or toothbrush to brush teeth with this oil.

7. Wheatgrass 

This natural defense against cavities is loaded with anti-bacterial properties which prevent the growth of harmful bacteria responsible for cavities. It also helps reduce pain resulting from the cavities. Also, wheatgrass is a rich source of vitamins A and E, and minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium which are essential for strong and healthy teeth. To use it effectively as a natural remedy for cavities, mix one part of wheatgrass juice with six parts of water and use it as a mouthwash. Repeat this twice or thrice a day for effective results.

Besides including any of these natural remedies in your daily oral hygiene routine, you can also add some foods to your diet which promote better oral health. Foods such as cheese, almonds, celery etc., are good source of calcium and promote production of saliva which washes off harmful bacteria from the surface of your teeth. Drink sufficient water to remove the tiny particle which are stuck in between your teeth.
