This movie will turn your beloved snowman into your worst nightmare. When serial killer Jack Frost meets with an accident on the way to his execution, he turns into a snow monster due to a chemical truck that his convoy runs into. After the accident, Jack sets out to seek revenge against the Sheriff who captured him. Sounds like the plot for a grungy horror flick, doesn’t it? Well, it is, and it’s also something more. It’s turned out to be a Christmas classic. It wouldn’t hurt to have few chills and thrills this Christmas season.

If you like romantic comedies with an ensemble cast set during the Christmas season, then this film is for you. It narrates many different stories that are interlinked with each other. This film is perfect for couples who are spending the holidays together. The film features big names such as Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Emma Thopson, Keira Knightley, Bill Nighy and funny man Rowan Atkinson. And don’t forget Billy Bob Thornton as the President of the United States, plus many other names that have become famous in recent years. That’s a lot of stars for one film.

This is one Santa Claus you should avoid, unless you want your nice kids to turn naughty. The film is about Willie Stokes, who robs department stores on Christmas Eve dressed as Santa Claus. Talk about adding insult to injury. Willie’s plans are disrupted when he has to take refuge in a little boy’s house who believes him to be the real Santa Claus. This movie marks John Ritter’s last film appearance before his sad demise in 2003. Fun fact: The Coen brothers were executive producers for this film.

What would Christmas be without the adventures of Kevin McCallister? I must say it would be quite dull. When an eight year old boy is left home alone on Christmas Eve with robbers planning to enter his house, what does he do? He chooses to defend his home using guerrilla warfare. This one’s a real treat for all Joe Pesci fans who want to see him in a different avatar from his gangster films. After watching this film you’ll realize that Christmas decorations are deadly in the right hands. I wonder what Kevin can accomplish with a wreath.

Do we even have to include this movie in our list for you to watch it during Christmas? It’s one of the most beloved films of all time, and not just for Americans. The film takes place on Christmas Eve, like you already didn’t know that. When George Bailey contemplates suicide, he’s visited by his guardian angel to help change his mind. If the angel can change George’s mind then he’ll earn his wings. If you haven’t already watched this film, then its plot should convince you to do so. It’s among the 100 best American films ever made.

We realize that the holiday season is a volatile time with the entire family assembled together. Keeping everyone’s attention glued to the TV screen is much better than having them go off on each other. If you happen to be a cinephile, then spending the day watching these Christmas delights back to back is the way to go. They have been carefully chosen to provide something for everyone. Many relations have turned sour because of ill words spoken during the holidays. A movie marathon can help you avoid such a situation. These films are the perfect catalyst for a perfect Christmas.
