LUCY: Movie Review and Screening In Atlanta #LucyATL #LucyMovie
When the movie trailer for LUCY came out I was super excited and couldn’t wait to check it out… I mean how can you go wrong with Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman? I had the pleasure of attending the Atlanta screening for LUCY which was hosted by Kandi Buruss who you may know from Xscape or The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The event was awesome because I got to hang out with a few friends, indulge in complimentary cocktails and of course watch LUCY!
So let’s get the skinny on the flick… LUCY is one of those movies that leaves you needing a moment of life reflection, lol. I found myself needing a full day before I could collect my thoughts and formulate a valid opinion and review score. Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman deliver as far as acting skill, which is a given but the storyline for me is a bit lacking. I’ll elaborate, for me conceptually LUCY is an epic movie but as far as execution goes I felt like they dropped the ball and left a lot of opportunities for this movie to be amazing, untouched.
I think after watching Scarlett Johansson play Black Widow, when you think of a movie that says you can use 100% of your brain capacity and see how awesome the trailer looks, you’re expecting something kick butt…
I recommend checking it out because I LOVED thinking outside the box and delving into the possibilities of what our brain could do if we used it to the fullest, but I wouldn’t recommend going in with any expectations. I think LUCY makes for a great conversation starter, date movie or something to see with friends. For this review I’ll have to give it a score based one execution and concept.
Your Life After 25 gives LUCY a 9 for concept but a 6.5 overall
