The Benefits of Installing Steam Functions in Your Bathroom

There are quite literally thousands of health benefits associated with steam rooms and saunas, which is why they have been used for thousands of years. While there has been a lull in the availability of steam rooms and saunas in countries other than Scandinavia, they are now seeing a huge revival. Today, anyone can have a steam room and it can often be installed straight into your existing bathroom. So what are these benefits?

1. Elimination of Toxins

In an average human body, you will find 2.6 million sweat glands. While our bodies are complex machines, it can only get rid of toxins in four ways:

  1. Feces
  2. Urine
  3. Perspiration
  4. Respiration

When you go in a steam room, you can sweat out as much as 30% of the toxins in your body through respiration and perspiration alone. Did you know that the toxins in our body are believed to be responsible for 95% of all cancers? This goes to show just how beneficial a steam room can be.

2. Your Skin Will Hydrate and Rejuvenate

The heat that is emitted by the sauna will make your heartbeat increase because it wants to cool your body down. When this happens, blood will flow all over your body, including into the smallest, often forgotten, capillaries. These are found just under the surface of the skin and this will give you a healthy glow. Blood cells are filled with oxygen, vitamins and minerals, all necessary to keep the body health. Plus, your metabolic rate will rise (great for losing weight!).

3. Your Immune System Is Improved through Hyperthermia

Hyperthermia means that your body temperature is raised to fever level, but as a therapeutic not due to an illness. A fever is generally caused to kill of virus, but this is when you are already ill. By artificially creating a fever, you will make your immune system stronger. Any viruses lingering in your body will be killed off, and your immune system will be strong enough to counteract any future virus attacks, albeit only for a short period of time. Your body will be full of proteins and other antibodies, all of which have been designed to protect you from illnesses.

4. Your Respiratory System Will Become Stronger

When you inhale steam, your respiratory system starts to reduce resistance by opening up the airways. In so doing, people with allergies and asthma can breathe better. Plus, it helps to fight congestion and inflammation if you have a cold and it helps your body to get rid of excess mucous in the chest area without actually drying it out.

5. It Provides Relaxation and Stress Relief

Finally, your muscles will relax when exposed to the heat because your vessels are widened. This means more oxygen can flow, further releasing any tension. This is why it is also so good for people with arthritis. Your body relaxes, allowing your mind to relax at the same time.
