The diverse terrain of Costa Rica includes lush forests, wildlife reserves, and stunning tropical beaches, offering a little bit of everything for any type of traveler. Whether you are looking for a vacation where you can lounge on the beach to soak up the sun or want to do some exploring through vast forests and vegetation, you can be sure to find everything that you need in Costa Rica. If you’re planning to visit Costa Rica at some point in the future, we’ve put together a list of the must-do’s and must-see’s.

Gold Coast

The ‘Gold Coast’ of Costa Rica is one of the most unique destinations in the country, and that isn’t just because of the gorgeous, secluded beaches. The dry, sunny savannas of the region are in stark contrast to the misty, cloud-covered rainforests which you will find in many other parts of Costa Rica. Towards the east of the Gold Coast, you’ll see some majestic volcanoes which comprise the Cordillera de Guanacaste. The coast, which extends all the way to the Nicaraguan border, is decorated with remote fishing villages and pockets of white sands where you will find some stunning hotels and other vacation accommodation. Corcovado National Park

Many travelers come to this almost 11,000-acre misty rainforest to catch a glimpse of the diverse range of wildlife which call it home. Chirping birds, buzzing insects and other wild animals can be seen and heard as you follow the trail through the verdant jungle. Along the hazy trails of this national park, you can spot creatures such as jaguars, howler monkeys, and macaws. To increase your chances of some great wildlife sightings, recent visitors suggest planning your visit for the earlier hours of the day, with optimum sighting opportunities at around 7-9AM. Corcovado National Park is located along the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and can be easily accessed from a range of park entrances which are marked with a ranger’s station. The rangers’ stations are in operation each day from 8AM-4PM, and there is an admission fee to enter the park.

Tabacon Hot Springs

If like most visitors to Costa Rica you are planning to witness the looming presence of Volcano Arenal for yourself, you should definitely save time to bathe in the luxurious thermal springs of Tabacon. 97% rainwater and 3% magma, with serene flowing waterfalls, mineral-rich natural springs and tropical foliage, it’s no surprise that this is a popular area with tourists, and reservations should be made months in advance to secure your spot. The distinguished springs and spa are also home to the Grand Spa, where you’ll be able to relax with volcanic mud wraps and face masks, meditation trails, and coconut and coffee exfoliations.

Costa Rica is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a vacation that offers a little bit of everything. With plenty of chances for adventure, sunbathing and other activities, there’s plenty to suit everyone in Costa Rica.
