Recently I shared my morning routine with you in “There’s No Wrong Way To Start Your Day or Year, Do Whatever Gets You Going!” And while having a clean cut routine can keep you on track, there’s always that one day where everything just seems to start off wrong. You know that day where your alarm doesn’t go off and as you leave the house you’re hitting every red light. Or that day where you wake up feeling off and your hair won’t act right and the car won’t start, etc. We’ve all had those “Worst Morning Ever” stories but it’s important that once you’re headed down that spiral you have the proper tools to turn that day around. How To Turn Around Your Worst Morning Ever

Have a great breakfast: Honestly, this is about whatever gets you going. If you normally have donuts and coffee but that just won’t cut it today indulge in a soda with pizza, YUM! RaceTrac found that each state even has their own unique ways to get going in the morning!  Texas likes it spicy and tends to grab jalapeño kolaches in the morning but those Southern‐style chicken biscuits are a winner in Georgia.  

Take A Breath or Meditate: If you’re stuck in traffic or hitting each red light, that that moment to control your breathing and meditate. Think about how you would like you can improve your day from here on out. At the end of the day, yelling or being mad won’t make those lights turn green.

Play Motivating or Upbeat Music: Who doesn’t love car karaoke? Do you a favorite song that always gets you hyped? Play that song and release your frustration as you sing from the top of your lungs. Trust me it will make you feel better and you might even make others smile when they see you jammin’ in your car lol.

Make Positive Affirmations: I’m big on positive thinking and affirmations. I know a lot of people think it’s hokum but what do have to lose? While you have those moments in traffic or you want to scream, make a mindset shift and think positive thoughts. “I will have a better rest of my day”, “Traffic will not ruin my day”,  etc.

Stay Fueled Up Throughout The Day: As I said earlier, have a great breakfast… but I also think it’s important to pack a snack so you can stay fueled during the day. Grab something that can hold you over until lunch and when lunchtime hits, make sure you stop and take that break.

Some mornings will be harder than others, but your morning really sets the tone for the rest of your day. So it’s important to make that turn around as soon as you can. For me one of the best things I can do is make sure I’m properly fed, because I definitely suffer from hangriness LOL. And as cheesy as it may sound. Positive affirmations really get your mindset thinking in the right direction. As I said in my “There’s No Wrong Way To Start Your Day or Year, Do Whatever Gets You Going!” piece, we’re in a new year and it’s time to make great habits.
