4 Types Of Service You Should Have In Your Emergency Contacts

The unexpected always seems to happen, so it’s always a good idea to prepare for it as best you can. With cell phones, it’s now easier than ever to store contact information for people or services you might need to get ahold of during a pinch. Wondering what kinds of services to include? These four are a very good place to start.

1. Police

While true emergencies should always be reported by calling 911, having the regular number of your local police department for non-emergency but still urgent problems is generally a smart move. Remember that police want you to call them if you see something suspicious, as they’d much rather have a false alarm than citizens not calling the police when something really is wrong and needs to be reported. For example, if you accidentally left a door open in your home while you were at work all day, and you are concerned for the safety of your family, call the police to see if an officer can come over to walk through the house with you. They are often happy to do that.

2. Mechanic

Your car is something that can have trouble with very little notice and frequently breaks down while you are away from home. Even if you are away from home or on a vacation, a mechanic you have a good working relationship with will be able to point you in the right direction, let you know whether it’s something serious or not or whether you can fix it yourself. Your mechanic can also recommend good mechanics nearby if you are unable to get back to the usual place for immediate repairs.

3. Locksmith

Whether you lock yourself out of your car, your home, or forget to bring a key for the padlock and need to get a canoe you bought while on vacation off your car, a locksmith can be a very handy person to have on call. This can prevent the police or fire department needing to get involved, and, due to their profession, locksmiths are mobile and come to you. Definitely keep the phone number of a locksmith, like Arapahoe County Security Center Inc. or another local company you recognize, somewhere you can find it.

4. Computer Repair

As the world becomes more and more digital as the years go by, the demand and need for having our computers and other electronic devices fully functional at all times grows as well. Having a computer repair guy or service in your contacts list can make it that much easier for you to get help when your machine malfunctions. Your repair person might have advice for how to fix it or send someone out to your office or home to help.

There’s nothing scarier than being stuck or unable to fix something when it breaks down, especially while leading a busy life or if you’re away from home. If you really don’t have the time or don’t know how to handle DIY fixes, be sure to put the four professionals listed above in your emergency contacts.
