Finding your dream home can be such an exciting experience. But let’s be real, if you haven’t narrowed down your list of must haves, it can get overwhelming. If I’ve learned anything from my favorite home buyer shows on tv, it’s that you should have a plan. From asking yourself if you want a new home or fixer to whether you need 1 or 2 garages, the possibilities are endless.
When I started my search for a dream home, I decided to make a needs vs wants list. This is important because often times we want EVERYTHING and sometimes our budget may not be able to support. I think the most important thing to remember is that whatever you’re buying now can either be a long term investment or short term investment. Ask yourself if yourself if this is your forever home or starter home, that alone will help narrow down your list. As a single woman, I approached home buying as a potential long term investment that isn’t my forever home. I looked at it this way because I eventually want a family. So when I thought about my needs, I knew I wanted a 2-3 bedroom home with at least a 1 car garage and my very own mailbox lol. Okay I know the mailbox thing may sound funny, but I have a great reason. As someone who runs a business from home and receives tons of packages, I hate having to go to an office or community box for my mail.
