Wrinkles are a natural part of getting older. That said, we can delay the development of many wrinkles on our body by making a few lifestyle changes. Facial wrinkles can be some of the most distressing. Whilst there are many cosmetic surgical procedures such as botox and facelifts that can remove these wrinkles, there are natural ways that we can all deter these wrinkles. Here are some of the main types of wrinkles that appear on the face and how to discourage them.

Eye bags

Bags under the eyes are most commonly caused by a lack of sleep. These dark circles are usually only temporary but after a continuous lack of sleep, they may become permanent. A lack of sleep is often the result of insomnia, which itself can be due to a variety of factors. Stress can often cause many people to struggle to get to sleep – having a bath and taking the time to relax before bed could be a way of decluttering your mind and helping you sleep better if this is the case. Bright screens have also been linked to sleep deprivation as they trick our brains into thinking it’s still day, reducing our ability to produce melatonin. Turning off TV screens and not going on mobile devices an hour before bed could allow you to get to sleep more easily.

Crow’s feet

These wrinkles around the edge of the eyes are caused when we squint. There are a number of times when we may squint a lot. If you need corrective vision but refuse to wear it, this could be causing you to squint more and could cause these wrinkles to develop faster. Similarly, not wearing sunglasses on a bright day can also cause us to squint and develop these wrinkles. Finally, you should always turn on a light when reading as this can also cause us to squint.

Smoker’s lines

Smoker’s lines are wrinkles found around the lips. Their cause is a combination of heat from the cigarettes and the action of pulling a drag on a cigarette. Giving up smoking can prevent these wrinkles from developing. Alternatives such as vaping can reduce these wrinkles from appearing.  You can buy e-cigs cheaply online, whilst sites such as vaporescence.com are great for buying e-liquids. Nicotine patches, gum and various types of therapy are also available for smokers and may work better for some people.

Forehead wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles are a little harder to prevent as they are most commonly caused by raising the eyebrows. People that are naturally more expressive may find that they develop these wrinkles more quickly. However, other factors can also cause these wrinkles to develop faster such as smoking, sun exposure, dehydration and a diet that isn’t rich in antioxidants.

Marionette lines

These wrinkles lead down from the sides of the mouth to the chin. Whilst they may naturally develop with time, they are often linked with being overweight. Taking steps to lose weight may be able to help prevent these lines before they become permanent. Thefacialfitness.com details some ways of targeting weight loss in the face.
