Portrait of Health: How Parents Can Be Examples to Their Young Girls

Being a young girl isn’t easy in this day and age. Society places a lot of pressure on young girls. They get a lot of pressure from their peers at school and elsewhere, too. If you’re a devoted parent who wants your daughter to grow up to be well-adjusted and confident, you should do what you can to be a superb role model for her. Mothers and fathers alike can make exemplary role models.
Consume Nutritious Foods
If you want your young daughter to have a healthy attitude toward food, she needs to see you consuming a diet that’s balanced and fulfilling. Aim to eat a diet that’s brimming with whole grains, vegetables, fishes that are chock-full of omega-3s, fruits, nuts, and beyond. Don’t let your daughter ever see you going overboard on junk foods, fried foods, candy, and the like.
Exercise Regularly
It’s important to make sure that young and impressionable girls understand that staying in shape is important for health purposes. Show your daughter that you take staying fit seriously. Make sure she understands that immoderate weight can make people susceptible to major health concerns such as obesity, heart disease, and more. Make sure your daughter knows that you jog and do resistance training regularly.
Don’t Complain about Your Body
Never speak about your physique in a disparaging manner in front of your daughter. If you do, you may plant negative thoughts into her head. You don’t want to encourage her to go down the roads of anorexia nervosa or bulimia. If you feel any dissatisfaction about your weight or the shape of your body, keep your thoughts to yourself. There are so many teenagers in eating disorder treatment facilities nowadays. It’s our job to support them.
Don’t Be Negative about Other Peoples’ Bodies
It’s not only crucial to refrain from speaking disparagingly about your own body. It’s just as critical to refrain from doing so about others’ figures. You don’t want to place too much importance on physical appearances. You should stress wellness over anything else. You should stress the value of being a good person inside as well. Don’t make the mistake of making your daughter think that physical appearances are everything.
Being a terrific role model to your daughter doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If you lead an honest and well-rounded life, you can easily be one. Your goal should be to surround your girl with excellent influences for life.
