6 Christmas Day Outfit Tips
Where Are You Going?
What you wear for Christmas Day might depend on your plans. If you visit a church, Sunday best might be in order, with something special, but reasonably conservative. If you are going out for a meal, again, you might want to get dressed up. But, if you are spending your day at home, you might decide to keep things casual. Think about what you are going to be doing on Christmas Day, and plan your outfit accordingly.
Who Are You Spending the Day With?
It will also depend on who you are spending the majority of your day with, as well as your families traditions. Do your family get dressed up for Christmas Day even if they are staying in? Or do they prefer to keep it casual? If you are hosting, you’ve got a lot to worry about, do you want to add finding the right outfit and looking your best all day?
If you are visiting family that you don’t see too often, or perhaps meeting some of your partner’s family for the first time, you might want to stick to those conservative options. If you are spending the day with your own parents, hold to their traditions, and if you are staying at home, consider starting your own with Christmas t-shirts for everyone.
Dress Comfortably
Whatever you are doing, wherever you are going and whoever you will be seeing, you’ll want to be comfortable. It can be tempting to go all out with a stylish dress and accessories, but will it be practical if you are sitting on the floor playing with toys? Or heading out on a long Christmas walk? If you are cooking, you’ll be spending a lot of your day in a hot kitchen. So, above all, make sure you are comfortable.
Make Sure You Can Eat
If there’s one thing that most Christmas days have in common, whatever other traditions in play, it’s the food, most of us indulge with a big Christmas meal, and plenty of snacks and treats. Think about how your outfit will feel with an afternoon food baby.
Treat Yourself to Something New
Comfortable doesn’t have to mean old. A new outfit is often an exciting part of the day. As adults, your presents might not be as exciting, or plentiful as they once were, and the day itself becomes more about the food and the company. So, buying a new outfit is a valuable chance to treat yourself to something that you want. If you’ve had your eye on something, use Christmas Day as an excuse to buy it.
Festive PJs for the Win
If you are staying at home or spending the day with close family or friends, ditch the dressing up and the formal outfits. Treat yourself to some cool festive PJs and spend the day in total comfort. Invite everyone else to do the same.
