How To Move On From An Ex Partner
Going through a breakup is hugely difficult, and properly moving on from your ex partner is even harder. Months after a breakup you can still feel like you’re not over it and the wound is still raw, and even the little things can remind you of the times when you were with them. However, whilst there is no quick-fix method to getting over somebody, there are some steps that you can take towards rebuilding your solo happiness again. We’ve noted down some of the best ways to move on here.

Remove them from social media
There is no way that you can move on from somebody without removing them from your social media pages, as difficult as this may be. Seeing their updates every day can cause you to become pretty obsessed with what they’re doing, and this is totally not healthy if you’re trying to move on from them. Delete (or unfollow) your ex, and try not to check up on what they’re doing as this may only hold you back from healing.
Forgive yourself
Whether you ended the relationship or your ex did, it’s important to forgive yourself for what happened. Maybe you did some things wrong, and maybe they did, too. In fact, it’s highly unlikely that there is only one person making all of the mistakes in a relationship that has dissolved. Forgive yourself, and forgive them, even if they haven’t offered you an apology. It’s the only way to truly find peace!
Practice self-love
When somebody leaves your life, it can feel like there is a hole where they used to be. Perhaps you have a lot of love to give, and nowhere to direct it. Instead of going out there and looking for a rebound, do your best to redirect that love at yourself. What do you really like doing, and what do you want to do? Whether it’s getting a hobby or just eating cookies in bed, be sure to practice a little bit of self-love.
Take off the rose-tinted glasses
One thing that many of us are guilty of in breakups is overlooking all of the bad qualities that our ex partners have, and the reasons why we broke up with them. No person is perfect, and seeing them as such is only getting in the way of your healing. Try to be as realistic as possible about your past relationship, and remember that your ex is just a human being. Just because they’re now unavailable to you doesn’t mean that they’re superhuman.
See how you feel in the dating world
Going back to dating after a breakup can be a difficult process. Whilst it’s not advisable to jump straight into dating (or another relationship), it’s good to go back into it when you feel like you’re ready. This reminds you that you can have fun with other people, and even if it’s nothing serious it can be a great help. From Muslim dating sites or dating sites for single parents through to taking the old school route, there are plenty of options if you’re looking to date again.
Good luck!
