Running Out Of Things To Do In The Pandemic? Your Home Needs You!
We’ve been on lockdown for over two months, and most of us have settled into our new routine. Now the dust has settled though we might be running out of things to do. Thankfully, if you own or rent your own home, then there are always plenty of things to keep us busy and improve our house.
With everyone in the house and rare opportunities for anyone to go out, the chances are that even the tidiest homes are going to need a deep clean. Take this time to start going around your rooms and looking at the condition of each area. When we are getting on with everyday life, we tend to go a little blind to some of the wear and tear in our homes. So taking a slow look at all the walls, lights and flooring in your home could highlight some areas that need attention.
You may notice that your hallway has suddenly attracted several mucky handprints or that there are scrapes and marks on the lower part nearer to the floor. When was the last time you painted the hall? If it was a few years ago, then instead of just getting out the cleaning products, why not find a new shade of paint and give your hall a fresh new look. You can fill any cracks and mend any issues that you have been putting off. Then give it a new lick of paint. This will freshen up the home and give you a feel-good factor too.
Although we are only midway through the year, this could be an excellent time to start thinking about winter preparations. While you are at home, it could be perfect for some timely gutter cleaning. This can help prevent any issues, especially when the rainy season comes. Our gutters can cause problems around our homes if we don’t keep on top of the maintenance. So hire someone in or get up on your ladder and give them a good jet wash. This will provide you with peace of mind for the rest of the year and prevent situations before they get out of hand.
If you have outbuildings, then you might want to ask yourself when was the last time you really looked inside them. Often our sheds or garages can get a little bit disorganised, especially if we have been busy and operate an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ policy. You can find lots of modular storage solutions online, which will improve the overall look and organisation of your outbuilding. Give it a deep clean too; our garages can become home to many different pests so make sure you look at the structural integrity of it and fill any homes which could give local wildlife an access route to your home. You may find after all that cleaning and organising that you have enough space to create an office or extra room for your home.
