4 Steps To Take When You Don’t Feel Like Yourself
Not feeling like yourself can be down to quite a few things. Maybe you didn’t get enough sleep? Maybe you haven’t eaten in a little while? Maybe you’ve had an overall bad day and just want to go home? But sometimes we can feel weird and out of sorts for seemingly no reason, and we have no idea what to do about it! But there are a few good ways to shake yourself up and get back into the groove; here are some tips that’ll help.
Do Something Unusual
There’s nothing quite like doing something spontaneous and out of the blue for breaking you out of a funk! If you’re sitting around at home and feeling unlike yourself, drop everything and get outside and spend some time in the garden. If you’re not really a Netflix person, why not put a movie on and get some snacks ready? And if you’re a regular gamer, put the gamepad down and try a fitness DVD instead. Just do something you don’t usually do and then see how you feel.
Talk it Out
Talking things through is always a good thing to do, no matter how you feel! But when you’re not sure what’s going on and you’re out of sorts, call up a loved one and talk about the limbo you’re in. It doesn’t matter if you have no words for it – they might have some sage advice that’ll really work. And if you find you’re getting in a weird mood on a regular basis, it might also be worth it to work with a therapist, like that offered by LifeWorks Recovery. It’ll certainly help you get to the bottom of any emotional wellness issues.
Go for a Walk
Getting outside is always good for you, even if it’s a bit rainy outside. Wrap up warm, put a waterproof coat on, and just go for a short walk. Stretch those legs, get the blood pumping, and breathe in plenty of fresh air. Take your time to experience the nature that exists around you, take some photos if you want to, and come back home feeling refreshed. Reconnecting with the world around us has long been a healthy way to feel like yourself again.
It might be the last thing you want to do right now, but just switch your phone off and put it down out of sight. Staying glued to a screen for hours on end, reading all kinds of opinions from all over the world, is very bad for your mental health! Human bodies aren’t used to having that much access to information, and it can be overwhelming from time to time. Put the phone down, do something else, and come back later when you’ve taken a proper break.
If you don’t feel like yourself right now, try out any of the ideas above and see where it gets you. Get out, be spontaneous, and put the phone down – it all works!
