5 Boho Bathroom Makeover Ideas
You have probably heard of the boho style of design that is trending right now. What exactly is it? Boho is a nickname for bohemian chic. This design style is based on free-spirited and creatively personal ideas that lack structure or any real identity. It is basically whatever you want the space to be that makes you most comfortable. Boho does not pay homage to any particular formal design era and often embraces a collection of items and finishes from many different styles. While it doesn’t follow any particular rules, Boho tends to rely on neutrals and soft shades. Here are some ideas for a boho bathroom makeover.
Fun Shower Curtain
Glass shower enclosures are nice, but they are sterile looking and a pain to keep clean. If you want to add some natural softness to the bathroom, try a bamboo shower curtain backed with a clear liner. Or, go bold and find a curtain with a floral pattern on it.
Vintage Fixtures
You might consider replacing that white acrylic tub with a glazed claw and ball foot tub. These tubs are often raw iron on the exterior. Vanity sinks can be non-descript. A free-standing pedestal sink has much more character and frees up floor space. While replacing plumbing fixtures, you can also find some terrific faucets and shower heads, such as a sunflower head that hangs from the ceiling. There are many brand-new retro plumbing fixtures available so you don’t have to hunt for antiques.
Add Shelving and Plants
If you check out home décor supply websites, you will see that wall-mounted single wood shelves are very popular. They can be staggered to make an interesting pattern on the wall. Add some vine-like plants that cascade down for a great boho touch. Some candles and an essential oil diffuser can also make your space feel homey.
Mosaic Tile
We all have seen the slick, clean lines of the newest porcelain tile plank flooring. If this bores you, either add a woven throw rug to soften the floor surface or swap the flooring out for colorful mosaic tiles. Think of styles from Morocco and Spain where tiles are typically handcrafted and beautifully patterned. Changing up the flooring can do wonders!
Lighting with Shades
Are you over recessed ceiling lamps everywhere in your home? You can install a hanging pendant fixture or chandelier to add some warmth and light output with more ambiance. Place the lamp on a rheostat (dimmer) so you can set the mood for a relaxing bath. Wall sconces with delicate shades are a nice touch on either side of a framed sink mirror.
Many bathrooms are cold and almost medicinal feeling. You can have a warm and friendly bathroom with a few changes and additions to add color and comfort. A boho-style bathroom can be your personal sanctuary.
