5 Ideas For When You Want A Good Night In With Friends
Having a night in with friends is one of the greatest pleasures in life. And inviting over everyone you love and having an evening together, laughing and making memories, was in short supply during the pandemic! Which is why it’s so important to host a few evenings like that right now.
However, a lot of people struggle to come up with something to do during a night like this. If all your friends have different interests, how can you bring them together and ensure they enjoy it?

Have a Silly Quiz
Everybody loves a quiz! It’s a chance to prove just how well versed you are in a certain subject, and who doesn’t love to win at the end? With this in mind, putting on a silly quiz of your own could be a good way to have a laugh during a night in.
For example, if you get a question wrong you have to do a forfeit, or there are mini prizes for the winning team in each round. Vary up the question types, throw in charades and pictionary, and make sure people are allowed to get loud when guessing!
Set Up a Murder Mystery
Murder mysteries are always interesting, thanks to our innate curiosity. If there’s a crime afoot and no one knows who did it, we’re all going to want to get involved and find out the truth! And setting up a murder mystery scenario of your own is a lot easier than you might think. After all, you don’t actually need to commit a crime here!
You just need some costumes, some character cards, and friends who are willing to improvise a little when it comes to roleplaying. But even if they’re not, there are plenty of walkthrough guides out there that’ll give them something to say every time the round turns to them. It’s a fun way to waste a few hours, and that sense of mystery and intrigue will have everyone on edge!
Cook a 3 Course Meal with All the Trimmings
Food will always be a winner when you’ve got a variety of different people to entertain. So why not host a dinner party night special? A 3 course meal, plenty of side dishes, and drinks on tap throughout the whole night. Make sure your starter is light, make your main dish indulgent, and have a dessert with a little bit of everything to serve afterwards. Let’s go through a good example here.
Say you want to do a full steak dinner – start with a dish of either seafood or a cheeseboard – these two foods go best with this kind of rich meat. You can then try this ribeye roast recipe for a big center dish, then cook up a lot of little bowls of potatoes (in various forms such as mashed or crispy), and be sure to throw some well seasoned vegetables in the oven to roast off as well. For dessert, something light and sugary wouldn’t go amiss, such as strawberries and cream.
Make and Create Together
Are you a crafty person? Are any of your friends? If so, get them round and make something together. Get all of your supplies out, give everyone a sheet of paper, and set a prompt. Once you’re all done, go round and review the pieces, or get drunk and see what you can make with a paintbrush in your hands!
The sillier the prompt, the more fun this will be. And if you can use various forms of art supplies, like pastels, clay, and watercolors, the bigger and better your projects will be. Laugh at each other, sabotage each other, or work together to make something you can hang on the wall – it’s your choice!
Drinks and Karaoke
Finally, you might just want to invite your friends over to have a drink and sing songs as loudly and badly as possible. It’s a fun way to blow off steam after a long week, and we all have that one song we’d love to perform up on stage.
Well, this is your chance to do it safely surrounded by friends, and have people to laugh with as it all goes wrong! Make cocktails, plug in the machine, then get up and dance as your friends either wail or ace that note in the background. What could be a better night in?
A good night is all about the company you keep. Anything can be fun when you’re all approaching it positively!
