Relationships aren’t perfect. The second you begin to accept that, the more chance you have of being happy and enjoying a great love. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the stresses of everyday life and start to think that your relationship just isn’t right. Maybe you get annoyed at little things, or you tend to step on each other’s toes and it makes you question everything. Maybe there’s a lot of tension between you at times and it pushes one of you away or into doing something drastic? Maybe you’re mostly happy, but you’re wondering what if? Or what more could be out there? No matter how hard your relationship can get, what you’re going through is more than likely normal. Because guess what! Relationships take work!

If you’re in love, you really care about your partner, and you know that they’re a great match for you, everything else is irrelevant. If you’re really struggling with compatibility issues, then it may be a different story, but if you know you love your significant other, the issue may not be your relationship at all, it may be your approach to it. Because as much as you may not want to admit it, you may not be putting you all into the relationship – and that’s often a tell-all sign that something is wrong. How can you expect your relationship to be as perfect as possible when your heart’s not in it? If you find yourself doing any of the ten points we’re going to talk over, it’s time to start pulling your weight!

  1. You Blame Your Spouse

First of all, you really do have to stop playing the blame game. If you’re unhappy, you can’t just project it all onto your partner or spouse. Your unhappiness is on you – not then. Blaming them for issues in your life or in your relationship is just too toxic. If you want to be happy, then you need to accept responsibility for whatever you have going on in life, and learn to leave your issues out of the relationship. Blaming each other is a sure fire way for your relationship to suffer.

  1. Little Things Get To You

At the same time, if you’re someone that lets all of the little things get to you, then you’re going to want to take a step back and reassess your mind. We all have our quirks, but you can’t fixate on issues in your relationship or with your partner. If you are, then you’re not in a great place mentally. Instead of sweating the small stuff, think about the bigger picture and be grateful for the good things. This is a quick and effective way of turning your attitude around.

  1. You Quit At The First Hurdle

When times get tough, are you out? Do you want to run away and just give up? This is never going to allow you to have a happy relationship. If you’re thinking about leaving or bringing in the family lawyers after a tough time, then you may just need to step back for a second. Quitting at the first hurdle isn’t going to get you anywhere. You need to work through your issues and exhaust all of your options before you walk away.

  1. You’re Not Being Patient

Practicing patience is incredibly important in a relationship. Because you are going to have your rocky moments and you need to learn to ride them out. When you get better at being patient, you will also find that the little things don’t bother you so much. You can also put your positive energy into making your relationship stronger too.

  1. You’re Not Trying

If you’re just not trying to make things work, then you really do need to start pulling your weight. If you’re out and you don’t want to try, then fine – walk away. But isn’t it better to know that you gave it all than give up wondering what if?

  1. You’ve Lost Interest In Intimacy

Losing intimacy can be really tough. Tensions can make this hard, but if you want to get your relationship back on track, bringing back the passion can help. When you’re connected emotionally, you’ll often find that your relationship can stay really strong.

  1. Other Things Are Your Priority

It’s easy for life to get busy. So many things take up your time, but if they all tend to come before your relationship, then you need to start pulling your weight. If you want a happy and healthy relationship, then it needs to be a priority. Simple.

  1. You Make Excuses

Do you tend to make excuses for why there are tensions in your relationship or why you’re currently unhappy? Again, this is very similar to the idea of blaming your partner. When you learn to accept the situation for what it is, you can then work to put things right. But to do that, you have to stop making excuses and put the work in.

  1. You Caught Silly Arguments

And, of course, there are always those dumb arguments that we all have. If you end up having more and more silly arguments, then you need to think about why these are happening? Are you picking at little things, or do you need to sit down and work out a bigger issue? Either way, drop the petty arguments and start working towards a healthier, happier relationship.

  1. But Above All Else

You’ve really got to try. You will have days where your partner or spouse drives you insane, but you’ll also have days where you’re filled with so much love you won’t believe you’re luck. And to keep your relationship strong, you have to learn to work through the former. It’s never going to be easy, but then anything worth having in life never is. If your relationship went off without a hitch, you may even get a little bit bored. Passion comes in all shapes and sizes, and you just need to learn to pull your weight, work through those tough times, and make it work.
