Ava Anderson Non-Toxic Eye Makeup Remover
by Stefanie R.
Ava Anderson Non-Toxic was created by 16 year-old Ava Anderson who at age 14 saw a news report on a study about hazardous chemicals found in the bloodstream of teens that were believed to have been from ingredients commonly found in cosmetics and skincare products and wanted to do something about it. Gotta love teens with ambition!
The Ava Anderson Non-Toxic 6 piece skincare line includes a cleanser, toner, exfoliator, moisturizer, lip scrub, and eye makeup remover pads, and her line also offers cosmetics.
I got a chance to try out the eye makeup remover pads. I don’t wear waterproof eye makeup, but I still find it hard to remove, and most makeup removers scare me with the chemicals they contain. These non-toxic single-use remover pads use a combination of flower extracts and do not contain alcohol, which dries the skin around your eyes. All of Ava Anderson’s products contain no PEGs, no phthalates, no parabens, no SLS, no 1,4 dioxane, no “fragrance.”
So how do they work? Well… they’re ok. I very much enjoy that they are safe for my skin, they didn’t dry it out or cause any irritation or rashes (my skin is super sensitive), but they could have been better at removing the makeup. I used two at night, which I thought got everything, but when I woke up in the morning, there was some smudging under my eyes and I had to use another.
I would be more inclined to try again if this came in liquid form rather than one-time use pads, so I can use a wash cloth and not have to throw anything out.
I’m wouldn’t try the makeup remover pads again because they don’t seem to work well with my eye makeup, but I would definitely be willing to try Ava’s other products!
