Understanding Calorie Intake and Health Around The World
Every year, millions of people across the United States are diagnosed with lifestyle diseases like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. In many cases, these diseases are caused by the over-consumption of high calorie foods. While high-calorie foods may be delicious, they can have a variety of negative health effects.
Several research studies have shown that people may be able to boost their lifespan by significantly reducing the number of calories they consume. Some primate research studies have shown than cutting one’s calorie consumption by one third may increase one’s expected lifespan by 50 percent or more. While these studies are currently limited to primates and smaller mammals, they do hold lots of promise for humans in the future.
It’s easy to cut out excessive calories in one’s diet. The best way to start is by eliminating cheese, refined sugar, carbohydrates and fat sources. In addition, it’s a good idea to make sure one consumes lots of fruits and vegetables.
