Over the years I’ve been blessed to have met some awesome people through Your Life After 25. Some of the best women I’ve met have actually been through various programs and shelters that we have been able to raise money for or help support. When I started Your Life After 25, I made it a point to choose brand platforms that felt close to home; 1. was raising awareness for suicide prevention and awareness, 2. was for rape and domestic violence, and 3. was to help homeless women and mothers.

I remembered having times in my life where I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make ends meet, times when I wondered if I would have to turn to unimaginable options and times when I thought that I may end up on the street or have to turn to a shelter.  I’ve been blessed to have great people in my life where when I felt the lowest in my life, they came to my rescue and provided me with a roof over my head and food in my stomach.  It’s the hardest thing knowing you want to better yourself and make a positive change in the world but not being able to even help yourself. That’s when our own personal angels come into action.

When I found out about U by Kotex’s “The Period Projects” I knew it was something I really wanted to share with you all and see how we can get involved in helping this awesome cause. Often times when people think about raising money or doing a clothing drive, the simple things like feminine products aren’t always considered. That’s what makes The Period Project such a great opportunity to help, and fill that void. The U by Kotex Period Projects include a series of signature projects. Each project is championed by a woman who shares the brand’s passion for creating change, and The Donation Drive is the main focus for this this round of raising awareness. The Power to the Period Donation Drive is actually the second installment of the U by Kotex brand’s new Period Projects.  It’s amazing to see so many phenomenal and talented women sharing the brand’s passion for creating change.  I know that we have a ton of readers who share that same passion for positive change.

The fact is many of the 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have limited access to and few places to turn for period products. So let’s see what we can do as Lifers to help get the word out and do something! Check out how YOU can get involved below.

You can start a Power to the Period donation drive or donate new boxes of period products to a drive in your area from Thursday, July 14 through Friday, September 30. Just visit UbyKotex.com, DoSomething.org/Period or text PERIOD to 38383 to learn how to get involved. When you visit UbyKotex.com don’t forget to request a U by Kotex® product sample and Join the online conversation with #PeriodProjects!

We truly appreciate when brands use their influence for good and operate with a true sense of social responsbility. It’s encouraging and makes us want to continue to do our part and get involved in more. Here’s something important to remember when you’re organizing or donating to a Power to the Period donation drive; make sure to donate unopened packages of period products (pads, panty liners, etc.), as opposed to individually wrapped items. It’s more hygienic, and it’s important that people see the instructions on the package.

We truly hope you’ll all join us in helping spread the

word and find a way to get involved in anyway you can!
