How To Build A Bucket List You Can Achieve
Everyone needs to have goals in life. We dream and we envision a future for ourselves that sees us achieving everything we could want to achieve. These goals that we have in life are usually involving people and places, but what about the goals that are personal to you? It’s exciting to have a list of dreams and things to work towards – it makes you feel in control and excited by life. The thing is, it’s so easy to be swept up in a world of possibility that you can easily forget how to stay on track and achieve.
The best way to do this is to write yourself a bucket list. A bucket list is a list of activities that you want to do before you “kick the bucket” – you might have seen the film! Whether you want to go farming in New Zealand or your dream is to write a book for emergent readers, you can achieve anything that you want to achieve in life – you just have to know how to reach out and grab the opportunities that will spin your way. Building a list of things that you want to do in life is the best way to check off each of those goals. So, let’s take a look at how you can build a list of things that you can achieve.
- Put A Deadline On Your Goal. It’s nice to write a list of things that you want to do in your life, but if you give yourself a lifetime it’s too easy to put them off and off until you’re grey and grumpy. The other thing is that life is not promised to us. We could each just die tomorrow – we don’t know when our time is up. If you want to write a book, write one. If you want to travel, put a deadline on it and start saving your cash. You can achieve much more when you have an end date on each activity.
- Make It Matter. Do you love animals? Perhaps one of your goals is to see the whales and experience feeding the dolphins. You need to find goals that will mean something to you. If you have children who are dyslexic, then maybe your goal to write a book will include tips for those who struggle to read. If you want to travel, pick places that matter to your grandparents and walk their footsteps. There are so many things that you can do in life, but if you choose something that matters, you’re going to succeed.
- Don’t Make These Dreams. It’s nice to sit back and daydream, but when you write down a dream you have, it can become a plan. When you leave things as wishes, you do yourself a disservice. You deserve to achieve whatever you want to achieve, and don’t let someone else’s opinion that it’s a reach hold you back.
- Don’t Overdo. Start with five things that you want to achieve in five years. Then work on those things happening. When you do it this way, you can prevent yourself from overreaching on all of your goals. You need a short list so that you don’t overwhelm yourself.
