The modern world presents Christians with essential dilemmas between holding their values and the dynamic societal viewpoints. Christianity emphasizes the need to treat every person with inherent dignity and worth in the modern world where people are equated to a cog in a wheel or object. Biblical teachings like the sense of brotherhood and being your brother’s keeper form the foundation of promoting dignity and worth among the people we interact with matter even more.
The rise of human rights, gender equality, and appreciation of animals in the modern world clearly indicate that the Christian principle of respecting, caring, and loving others has the root for preserving human dignity and worth. Similarly, your workplace goes the extra mile of allowing you a day off (during Sabbath) reveals its adherence to the question “How did God “rest?” and the need to promote your dignity on the day of worship.
Stewardship of the Planet
Christian teaching portrays humankind as God’s steward on the planet. Genesis 1:24-31 reveals how we were given the role of taking care of God’s creation. The human race has indeed gone beyond this role to become the critical agents of destruction rather than custodians.
Even though the resources were meant to be used to benefit us, we have the God-given obligation to ensure that they are well-managed. However, there have been endless missions aimed at restoring Mother Nature to its original state. There’s a tendency that this objective may not be achieved any time soon. The fact that the human race is trying to restore Mother Nature reveals that the value of stewardship in line with Christian ideals is still relevant in the modern world.
In conclusion, Christian values still hold true in the modern world. Many immoral and unethical activities indeed surround us. However, you only need to be a little positive to appreciate how effective Christian values are in the modern world.
