Positive Futures for Our Cities
People care about their hometowns and the cities in which they live. They may love their neighborhoods, but admit that there is room for improvement whether that be, for example, in air quality, or economic health and welfare. More and more, people actively are discussing how quality of life in the cities of the future will look.
Research shows that “greening†cities can benefit residents and improve the experience of everyday living. Taking this into account, planning makes sense. Strategics can start with conversations at a local level that grow to a larger audience and foster a collaborative effort to address complex issues.
Some conversations might explore how to improve public transportation, update transit infrastructure, and support a strong housing market. Others might focus on developing walkable communities where residents enjoy friendly relationships with local merchants and are well-served by electric transit. All in all, envisioning the greening of cities that begins in the present, can be an exciting preview of positive futures.
