Business is one of the leading reasons relationships collapse. As couples get too busy, they lose time for one another. Work consumes them, and the relationship starts to fizzle out. This might not lead to a break-up, but more of a situation where there’s just no spark anymore.
I’m always a firm believer that you can reignite a spark in your relationship if you’re willing to try. So, here are some things you can do – even if the two of you are super busy.
Have a stay-at-home date night every week
You’re too busy to go out for dates, but that doesn’t mean you’re too busy for date night. Instead, bring the date to your home. There are plenty of ideas for date night at home that range from romantic meals to more creative things. Staying at home saves so much time as neither of you needs to get ready, you don’t have to take any transport, it’s so simple. Realistically, there’s no excuse here, so give it a go!
Take advantage of the weekend in your bedroom
Sex shouldn’t be something that defines your relationship. You shouldn’t depend on it for your relationship to thrive. But, a lack of sex can definitely cause a spark to fizzle out. Sadly, this happens when you’re too busy during the week. Both of you are too tired every night, and there’s not enough time in the morning to dirty up the sheets. So, take advantage of the weekend! Have a long lie-in on Saturday and just enjoy each other’s company. Having sex once a week, or even once a fortnight, will work wonders for the health of your relationship.
Actually, you’ll probably realize that the two of you can suddenly find more time for each other on weekday evenings after that first session on the weekend! It’s amazing what a bit of sex can do to the flexibility of your schedule.
Small gestures have a big impact
Even if you’re unbelievably busy, there’s always time for a small gesture. When you wake up in the morning, make your partner breakfast while they’re in the shower. Buy a bouquet of flowers on your way home from work, cook a meal for them, buy them something to show how much you appreciate them. All of these gestures require hardly any effort and can improve your relationship dramatically. It tells your partner that you still care for them and still think about them. Plus, it brings up something to talk about. They’ll say thanks, smile at you, maybe give you a kiss, and it’s the perfect way to start talking about your day with one another. Then, they might repay you with a gesture of their own – it’s lovely!
Personally, I don’t think that there’s any excuse for a relationship to just fizzle out of its own accord. There has to be a clear issue, it can’t be down to business. If you let a busy schedule destroy something special, then you’re just not trying hard enough.
