Color Psychology and the Human Mind

Color Psychology and the Human Mind

Red, blue, yellow, green – the vast and vibrant range of our color spectrum is the first thing that catches our eyes as newborns and one of our first lessons as infants. Colors are much more than a visual stimulus. They are also integrally connected to our emotions, and certain colors have been shown to evoke particular emotional responses. The color blue is believed to cause the human body to relax by kick-starting the internal production of soothing hormones. The same is true of the color green, while yellow brings out a feeling of joy and merriment. Black is unsurprisingly tied to feelings of depression and isolation, as is dark brown. Colors such as pink, red, and purple are strongly related to notions of romance and love, and bring out tender emotions in most people. The human mind is thus inextricably connected to color, and it truly does affect our lives in subtle but important ways.
