Shazam! is a 2019 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Originally his name is Captain Marvel but you can see how that would be a conflict of interest lol. Many of you know that I haven’t been too impressed with DC movies, but Shazam was really a breath of fresh air.

I think the key is remembering that Shazam is a kid,  Billy Batson who is also a foster kid, so this superhero has a child like quality and his own personal struggles to deal with. It’s nice to see how a kid would handle having super powers and all the ways that having powers could make them feel. Even though Billy is younger we get to see full character development and lots of growth in his story arc. I do love that Shazam is full of laughs and the action scenes are well done.

All in all I believe Shazam is a great movie for any occasion; family, friends, date night and more. Shazam is another win for DC, lets hope they’re able to continue this upward trend.
