Her – Movie Review

When I first saw the previews for the movie Her, I was intrigued and apprehensive at the same time, lol… I mean a movie about a guy who loves his computer? Talk about going down the rabbit hole. Anyway I kept hearing good things, so this weekend I decided to give it a go and I was SUPER glad I did. Her is a romantic science fiction film written, directed, and produced by Spike Jonze. With stars like Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, and Scarlett Johansson, I should have known that it would be quite a movie to see.

We’re given a voyeuristic view inside the relationship of Theodore Twombly who is living a mundane existence but finds excitement and love from an unexpected place; his computer operating system “Samantha”. Samantha is voiced by Scarlett Johansson who adds dimension to a character that could have easily been seen as flat. By the end of the film, what might have seemed like a strange relationship becomes understandable… Her leaves me wondering where the constant growth and change of technology will lead us and how it will effect human connection and relationships. I recommend seeing this film it’s definitely well made and quite thought provoking. Also, all the actors are playing different roles than we’re used to seeing them in, so that was very refreshing.

Your Life After 25 gives Her 9/10
